Plans to build three large family homes on land next to Bentley Primary School have been approved.

Shorewood Homes were granted permission by EHDC on Wednesday (July 23) to build the properties off School Lane on land surrounding Glebe House.

The EHDC planning committee voted 7-0 in favour with two abstentions despite concerns by from local member Cllr David Ashcroft over access onto the narrow lane and the “cumulative effect” of development.

Two of the new homes off School Lane will have four bedrooms, with the third having five.

Bentley Parish Council also objected to the scale and form of the “bulky” houses proposed and the potential for backland development.

But the applicants said the “logical and sensible” infill development will “contribute positively” to School Lane while making a contribution to meet the district’s urgent need for housing.
