Cock-a-hoop kids win farm visit cup

FOR the third time in the eight years St Lawrence CE Primary School in Alton has won the North East Hants Agricultural Association’s Primary and Junior Schools Countryside Challenge Cup.

Classes from 12 schools in North East Hampshire and South West Surrey spent a day organised by Country Trust Hampshire on a farm in the region learning about food production and conservation.

Following their visits the classes undertook project work based on what they had learnt on the day.

The judges visit each of the schools to view the project and to hear a presentation from pupils.

The judges decided to award the 2016 trophy to

St Lawrence as their display and presentation had demonstrated that the farm visit had been used to enhance all areas of the national curriculum with a variety of work of a quality that was beyond what might be expected from children of their age.
