On a cold but thankfully dry Saturday morning, Millbridge WI in Frensham held a short dedication ceremony at the recently-planted liquid amber tree in Hollowdene Recreation Ground in memory of Dot Othen.

Dot was a member of so many local groups and societies, and representatives from these joined WI members in remembering Dot with a plaque and tree in the parish where she had lived in for so many years.

Janet McFadyen, of the WI, said: “Dot’s family had very kindly donated to her local WI, and it was decided to honour her with a tree.

“She was a real countrywoman with a wealth of knowledge on plants, birds and anything relating to the natural world, much of which was depicted in her talented paintings. Dot is sadly missed.”
