‘Hosts’ Rowledge lift Goolding Cup again
Farnham Herald

THE Farnham & District Bowling Association finals day took place at Farnborough Bowling Club.
The rotating presidency fell to Rowledge Bowling Club this year. However, finals day requires a full-size green which Rowledge, albeit a vibrant village club, does not have.
Farnborough BC kindly ‘loaned’ their green, although Rowledge were responsible for running the day and providing catering.
The weather was perfect and enhanced a day much enjoyed by players and spectators. There were some very close-fought matches, including the Goolding Cup for two rinks, which was contested by Rowledge, the 2017 winners, and Farnham BC. Rowledge ran out winners for a second year.
Rowledge were also represented in the mixed pairs by Mehdi Akkouh and Lizzie Lunn who finished runners-up to David Sheppard and Sandy Harris of Bourne BC.
A raffle raised £100 for the president’s charity, the Motor Neurone Association.
Next year, the presidency will be held by Seale & Sands BC.
