Liss Athletic finally got back to action after a break of 49 days on Saturday – but came out second best to Sway at the Newman Collard Playing Fields in the Hampshire Premier Football League Senior Division.
Elliot Harrison fired Mark Glazier’s side into a two-goal advantage after just 22 minutes, but the New Forest side turned the game on its head and led 3-2 at the interval.
The visitors added gloss to the scoreline in the second half to run out 5-2 winners.
The Blues will hope to bounce back from the defeat when they host the bottom-placed side Overton United on Saturday.
The reverse game ended in a 2-2 draw at the start of December.
Liss Athletic’s reserves were defeated 3-1 at Folland Sports in the Hampshire Combination East. The reserves will visit Selsey in a mid-season friendly on Saturday (2pm).
